Math and Reading Buddies Tutoring Program

If you have a child who needs help building math and/or reading skills or could use one-on-one homework help, check out Math and Reading Buddies!

Math and Reading Buddies is a free tutoring program at Monroe Twp Library that individually pairs high school volunteers with students in grades 1-6 who need help in math and/or reading. Buddies usually meet at the Library once a week during a ten week session, for 30 to 60 minutes each meeting. Buddies are matched based on mutual need and availability - once paired, buddies schedule their own meetings with each other at the Library.

"Legos at the Library" is a program for children ages 5 and up. Children are given an hour of open building time to create whatever they want out of Legos. The Library provides basic Lego pieces to attendees, although you are welcome to bring your own minifigures or any special Legos from home.



The next session will be March 22nd at 4:30 pm and the theme will be "Knights and Castles." Registration is required and begins Feb 22nd. Please call Youth Services at 732-521-5000 x 116 or check our Event Calendar on our homepage for more information.

Math and Reading Buddies 2010-2011

The Youth Services Department is once again offering tutoring during the school year for elementary students! Math and Reading Buddies individually pairs high school volunteer tutors with elementary students who need to practice math or reading skills.

Pairings are based on student need/volunteer interest and mutual availability. Once paired by the Library, the volunteer and the student's family arrange the meeting schedule, usually once a week, either after school or on the weekends. The Library provides the space and free tutoring resources, such as textbooks, workbooks and games!

The Fall tutoring session begins the week of October 4th, so please get your applications in as soon as you can! You will be notified about your Buddy two weeks prior to the start of the session.

Tutoring help this Summer at the Library!

Looking for tutoring help for your child over the summer?

Math and Reading Partners is a summer program for children finishing Grades K-5. Students are individually paired with an adult or high school volunteer from the community who will help them practice their math skills and/or reading skills over the summer months. The Youth Services Department hopes that you will consider participating in this successful program!

Student applications may be picked up at the Youth Services Desk or downloaded here. Applications are due Friday, May 14th.
